We invite you to the flow cytometry workshops. Flow cytometry is a widely used method for analyzing the expression of cell surface and intracellular molecules, which leads to characterizing and defining different cell types in a heterogeneous cell population. It allows simultaneous multi-parameter analysis of single cells. Flow cytometry has been applied in identifying various cell types unique to certain diseases. One of the most common is in the diagnosis of blood-related neoplasms such as leukemia and lymphoma. Highly specific monoclonal antibodies that have been labeled with a various fluorochromes are applied to detect the presence or absence of different cellular antigens that could be detected in different types of neoplasms. This information is crucial in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of various diseases. Due to its sensitivity this is especially useful in diagnosis the early stages of a malignant diseases when standard histopathological assays cannot be applied due to lack sufficient number of pathologic cells.
