Cowboys, pioneers, Native Americans, stagecoaches, saloons, outlaws, ….
The wild expanses of the American West have always captivated people’s imagination. For the young nation of immigrants, the West was like an open book, a place where the so-called American dream could become real.

However, is the search for the Wild West in the 21st century not a doomed endeavor? After all, the Wild West has long ceased to be wild: railways now connect the East Coast with the West Coast, thousands of miles of highways have been built, and Native Americans have been confined to reservations.

This presentation is an attempt to show what the Wild West is like today. We will visit abandoned ghost towns and learn about life during the gold rush. We will see the iconic Monument Valley and the Death Valley, which remains a daunting place. Then, we will explore some trails traversed by cowboys and the canyons where settlers of the time unsuccessfully tried to establish their ranches.

We will also learn some expressions that have their roots in the history and culture of the Wild West.

Join me on an exciting journey in search of the Wild West.
