The cerebral cortex, the hippocampus, the amygdala.... are the structures of the mammalian brain that anyone interested in anatomy has heard about more than once. Perhaps it also associates the pituitary gland, the size of the pea, which allows us to grow, mature, and affect weight, skin, and hair appearance. Few processes in our body are not, at least indirectly, related to the work of the pituitary gland. And another, small structure- the pineal gland, "the seat of the soul" as described by the philosopher Descartes. It seems melatonin, the "sleep hormone" and can produce a potent hallucinogenic compound called DMT that is experience only in three life situations.

And has anyone heard of the precuneus? Tiny, located within the hemispheres of the brain, considered a habitat....happiness!!! People who feel happiness more and sadness less intensely and who can find meaning in their lives to a greater extent have greater precuneus.

Are you curious about what else "lives" in our brain? Welcome!!!!
